Spending Local
Why it Matters

The struggles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic affect many, but small businesses are especially vulnerable. We view local businesses as an essential part of who we are as a community. Small businesses supply economic stability: the Small Businesses Administration states that small businesses provide almost half of our nation's total GDP, and provide jobs for 47.5% of US employees. Yet the value of a local business runs deeper. Each business carries the determination of its founder(s) and the history of our community. It represents the innovation within us all. When we lose a small business, we also lose unique goods, a part of our story, and a neighbor's economic livelihood. We choose our community when we choose to spend local.
